Welcome to the Kinhold Project
Why Are We Building the Kinhold Project?
There’s a quiet truth many of us are living with:
Modern life isn’t working the way it’s supposed to.
We are more connected digitally than ever, yet increasingly isolated. Families are stretched thin. Housing costs rise while support systems shrink. We are expected to do everything independently — raise children, maintain homes, earn income, manage emotional well-being — often without meaningful, consistent community.
The Kinhold Project began as a simple question:
What if we didn’t have to do it alone?
What Is Kinhold?
Kinhold is an intentional, sustainability-focused cohousing project built around shared resources, shared responsibility, and shared humanity — without sacrificing personal autonomy.
It is not about communes. It is not about giving up privacy. It is not about rigid ideology.
It is about designing a community structure that makes life more livable.
At its core, Kinhold aims to:
Reduce financial strain through shared infrastructure and cooperative models
Reduce burnout through distributed labor and mutual support
Reduce environmental impact through intentional design
Increase resilience through interdependence
We are building in phases, prioritizing stability over speed. The goal is durability — socially, economically, and environmentally.
Our Core Values
Kinhold is not just a housing plan. It is a values-driven framework.
Sustainability
We define sustainability broadly.
Environmental sustainability matters — thoughtful land use, shared utilities, reduced consumption. But sustainability also includes emotional and relational endurance. A system that burns people out is not sustainable, no matter how efficient it looks on paper.
Kinhold is designed to replenish the people within it.
Community
Community here is intentional — not accidental proximity.
It looks like:
Shared meals and cooperative childcare
Skill-sharing and resource-sharing
Built-in support during life transitions
Children growing up surrounded by trusted adults
Community is not constant socializing. It is reliable presence.
Autonomy
We believe autonomy strengthens community — it does not threaten it.
Participation in Kinhold is meaningful because it is chosen. Individuals and families retain privacy, boundaries, and self-determination. Diversity of thought and lifestyle is expected, not suppressed.
Shared living should expand freedom, not restrict it.
Balance
Perhaps the most important value of Kinhold is balance.
Balance between:
Work and rest
Contribution and recovery
Privacy and connection
Stability and flexibility
Modern culture tends to swing to extremes — hyper-independence or rigid collectivism. Kinhold aims for something steadier.
Where We Are Now
Kinhold is currently in its design and development phase.
We are refining governance structures.Clarifying phased implementation.Identifying aligned families and individuals.Exploring land, infrastructure, and legal frameworks.
We are building slowly and transparently because the process matters as much as the outcome.
This website will document that process — the planning, the pivots, the questions, and the growth.
Kinhold is not a finished blueprint.
It is a deliberate experiment in living differently.
If you’ve ever felt like there has to be a more balanced way to build a life — you’re not alone.
We’re building toward it.
