The Kinhold Project: Phase 0

I am so excited to share some Phase 0 updates with you all we work toward actualizing our shared vision for The Kinhold Project. The primary goal of Phase 0 is to get people involved with Kinhold in these early stages and begin building a community and culture around our shared values: Sustainability, Autonomy, Community, and Balance. This phase will form the foundation of what will become Kinhold Commons - our cohousing homestead initiative. For a community like this to thrive, the importance of community involvement cannot be overstated.

The goal of this blog is to share the "road map", including ways to get involved and updates on current progress. Going forward, I plan to update on the first Sunday of every month so stay tuned for news, committee updates, and events. For now, check out what tasks are planned for each committee in Phase 0, and reach out via our contact form if you'd like to get involved!

Governance Committee:

Draft simple decision process for early organizers
Create shared doc hub for notes & planning
Outline "good standing" expectations

Finance Committee:

Draft startup fundraising goals (land, utilities, insurance)
Explore LLC or nonprofit structure options
Research loans, grants, and donation platforms

Agriculture Committee:

Research local soil, climate, and native crops
Identify possible seed/start suppliers
Draft preliminary land use concepts

Outreach Committee:

Create clear community vision/values statement
Build early supporter contact list (email or Discord)
Start basic online presence (website or socials)

Facilities Committee:

Research zoning/building codes in target counties
Identify infrastructure requirements (water, septic, access roads)
Collect cost estimates for Phase 1 facilities

Culture Committee:

Begin community-building with core team (virtual hangouts, potlucks if local)
Draft ideas for early traditions/rituals
Document shared values to guide Phase 1 launch
